John Panesko Asks For
One Good Thing About
Obama’s Reelection
One Good Thing About
Obama’s Reelection
Here’s Panesko’s debating strategy of keeping Liberals from getting their message out. He keeps badgering them so that they lose their train of thought. He doesn’t do that to his loony right-wing callers.

How many times did Panesko interrupt Larry?
How many times did Panesko try to change Larry’s subject?
As usual, Panesko cut him off.
But Panesko wanted to know one good thing about Barack Obama’s re-election. Here’s three. Here’s my letter to the editor published in The Chronicle on November 29, 2012:

Lewis County Needs to Get With the Program
To the editor:
Item: Once again, Lewis County proves to be the most politically ignorant county in western Washington, with a 61 percent vote for Mitt Romney, 72 percent for 3rd Congressional District Representative Jamie Herrera Beutler, but only 43 percent for Sen. Maria Cantwell, and only 35 percent for Gov. Jay Inslee.
What I really find amusing is that the Republicans were so cocksure Mitt Romney was going to win the presidency. Those poor Lewis County right-wingers who relied on Faux News never knew what hit them. Callers to John Panesko’s right-wing anti-government talk show were absolutely giddy about a Romney victory. Those of us who read the mainstream newspapers and watched MSNBC were treated to daily doses of Romney’s flip-flops and flat out lies. We knew President Obama would win reelection by the skin of his teeth.
Tonight I’d like to offer some suggestions to help Lewis County keep from humiliating itself anymore. With only one right-wing anti-government newspaper and only one right-wing anti-government radio station, there is an information blackout in Lewis County. They keep Lewis County pretty dumbed down. The Chronicle needs to hire a liberal columnist to counter John McCroskey and Julie Zander. KELA needs to have a talk show where everybody is allowed to call in, not just those who agree with the host. We need a strong Democrat Central Committee in Lewis County, but those guys are brain dead, so that’s never going to happen.
Item: Panesko asked for one good thing about President Obama’s reelection. Here you go, John.
First and foremost, of course, we saved our country from becoming a plutocracy where billionaires and corporations run the country. The Republicans would have taken us back to the Gilded Age and robber barons. Labor laws would be gone. Unions, gone. The minimum wage, gone. Unemployment benefits, gone. Food stamps, gone. Environmental protection, gone. Banking regulations, gone. The Affordable Care Act, gone. Social Security, gone. Medicare, gone. Medicaid, gone. But tax cuts for the rich would be increased.
Secondly, we would be living under a theocracy where the right-wing Christian fundamentalists would shove their religion down our throats by outlawing abortions and contraception and inserting God into every aspect of our lives. No more separation between church and state.
Third, we saved the Supreme Court. The current Supreme Court doesn’t believe in precedents. They make up the law to suit their right-wing ideology. A right-wing Supreme Court appointed George W. Bush president, but ruled that decision could never be used as a precedent. A right-wing Supreme Court overturned 69 years of precedents to find that we have an individual right to own a gun. Then a right-wing Supreme Court overturned a century of law to find that corporations are people and could buy an election.
President Obama will have a chance to nominate two or three Supreme Court justices. We know Roe v. Wade would be gone if a President Romney were allowed to nominate new justices.
Most of America got that. Why not Lewis County?
END OF LETTER
Panesko is a big man with a microphone but he doesn’t DARE take me on in a public forum. He can’t write a letter to the editor because he knows I will respond. He can’t run for public office because he knows I’ll be sitting right beside him. I’ve got him cornered in his little radio studio up on the hill.
